I'm Like a Bird... I WANNA FLY AWAYYYYYY

Bumpy roads, unpredictable, yet predictable, showers of rain, flooded public restrooms, and house directions that consist of “turn left after the big mango tree” or “keep following the road til you see the dumpsters:” this is the island of Saipan. My high school experience revolved around living on this tiny island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean and I attribute a lot of what I have accomplished to living
on Saipan. Everything I did and learned was a result of the fact that I lived in the tropics: the limitations and unique set of opportunities that it had to offer.

I Use My Mind Most of the Time... With the Exception of my Heart and Gut

People usually put two-and-two together when they are asked how they think:  I use my mind, think about something, and then make a decision based on that thought.  For the most part, this is how the human brain works.  We think of something with our mind and then make a decision or assumption based off of it.  But you know what's surprising?  Most of us are at fault for using our gut and our heart when making a decision.  Sometimes, our gut decisions do not require any thinking and are done "on the spot."  When it involves our heart, we revel over it - for hours, for days, and sometimes, even for years.  When our mind and heart get entangled, decisions take a while to happen.  For me, it takes months to make certain decisions whenever my heart gets involved.

Kooks and Nerds - The Cool SIS Class of 2k12

The title speaks for itself.  This group of students is probably the oddest and the most talented group I have ever come across (there is some bias lurking behind that sentence, but disregard it).  We are awesome and funny and weird and smart.  Most of all, we're just generally good people.  I love how we all have a certain amount respect for each other.  I LOVE THIS CLASS.  We're so awesome :')!
